Support Mission Trip Endowment!
For the past two years, CUI Judo Club has sent athletes to compete at the National Collegiate Judo Championships. We are requesting financial support to travel and compete at the 2025 NCJA Judo Championships in New Hampshire. This tournament is a great opportunity for our students to showcase their technique and connect with judo athletes from other schools. Consistent representation on a national stage has been important to establish the reputation of Concordia University Irvine amongst many other universities across the USA.
The goal of the CUI Judo club is to train the mind and body through the practice of Judo (Translation: ‘the gentle way’). Students improve themselves through physical and mental training, competition, forms and self-defense in ourselves and in our community following two primary maxims:
Mutual welfare and benefit
Maximum efficiency with minimal effort
Participation in judo supports Concordia’s mission statement of producing wise, honorable, and cultivated citizens. In the Fall of 2025, students will have the privilege to travel with Dr. Meier to South Korea (YongIn University, YongIn City) and Japan (Kodokan Judo World Headquarters, Tokyo & Tokai University, Tokyo) to explore, experience, and train the art of judo in a distant setting. Not only will they train, but they will experience the marvels of Korean and Japanese culture, expanding their horizons above and beyond the familiar American lifestyle.
This unique opportunity will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the students as they continue to grow and cultivate strong moral character, discipline, and diligence through judo. Your generous donations will be of great help for us!
Visiting Korea and Japan will help us understand the traditional aspects of judo and a culture we may not otherwise experience. Being in a different country will help us learn and share our experiences with others, hopefully making an impact on other people as well as learning from people with different perspectives than our own.
