Help bring one of the country's most famous music composers to Concordia
Frank Ticheli has written some of the most beloved music for band, orchestra, and choir in recent decades. The Concordia Wind Orchestra is helping to commission his brand new flute concerto, Silver Linings, which will be performed by Concordia's flute professor, Dr. Julie Long (who studied and worked with Ticheli at USC). This special concert will be held on April 14, 2018. This will be a Composer Spotlight Concert: We have invited Ticheli to conduct his music in this concert.
We will also use this as an opportunity to engage with two excellent high school band programs from Irvine High School and Santa Ana High School. We are seeking sponsors to support the cost of Ticheli's appearance at each high school for rehearsals, and then the concert in which each group, plus the Concordia Wind Orchestra, will have the honor of playing Ticheli's music under Ticheli's baton here at Concordia.
Your donation will support Ticheli's appearance, the commission and performance of the flute concerto, and seed money to make the Composer Spotlight concert a recurring event with other eminent composers and outstanding local high schools.
Challenge grant: all donations will be matched up to $3,500
Give $20 to receive a complimentary ticket for yourself and one complimentary ticket for needy family members of the high school students (these will be determined by the high school directors).
